"I have travelled to more than 60 countries and of all the adventures I have had NOTHING quite matches a safari in Kenya with Surprise Tours and Safaris.  So much so that I have returned twice more to Kenya, completing 3 safaris, visiting 6 different safari parks and staying in 8 different safari lodges.

Every safari adventure has been different, exciting, and SURPRISING - but the one thing that never changes is the absolutely incredible service provided by Patrick and his team.
On Safari with gentleman Patrick and his team you won't feel like just another tourist. They have extensive networks and contacts across the range of Kenyan Safari Parks, so when you arrive at a park or a lodge as part of Patricks group you will be immediately looked after and exposed to the warmest and friendliest Kenyan culture.

Surprise Tours and Safaris drivers and guides have a lifetime of knowledge about African wild animals, habits and seasons.
Travelling with Surprise Tours and Safaris you will always feel safe and comfortable but be ready for your heart to race and your smile to beam when they race you across a Kenyan plain at the base of majestic Mt Kilimanjaro to be surprised by huge elephants, swaying giraffes, speedy zebras and roaring lions."

"We have travelled with Patrick from Surprise Tours and Safaris on 3 occasions since 2013, in Tsavo, Amoseli and Massai Mara. The attention to detail, support of locally owned and operated lodges, extraordinary knowledge of the country and animals, is second to none.

We cannot recommend them highly enough if you want a truly authentic and professional Safari. We previously went on Safari in Tanzania with another company, and there simply is no comparison in value for money and professionalism.

Knowing that the profits from the Safari’s conducted by Surprise Tours and Safaris will all go to Umoja Orphanage Kenya, is just another reason to support this business.

You will be guaranteed of a first class experience with locals who really know the region, while supporting Umoja Orphanage Kenya which is saving children and giving them an opportunity with love, care and education, that they would not otherwise have."

“Always felt very safe with Patrick and his team, highly experience drivers. Their knowledge of animal behaviour and to have us in the best viewing points was amazing.

Unforgettable memories of beautiful Africa. Wishing everyone all the success with the company."

"I had the pleasure of doing a safari with Patrick and his co-driver in October 2018. What an experience! The drivers knew their parks, the lakes and the wildlife. Nothing could have prepared me for the exposure we had nor for the locations to which they took us.

But, more than that, there was a 'hiccough' in one of our accommodations and Patrick seamlessly redirected our two groups to superior accommodation at no additional cost to the group.

I would highly recommend the touring company and intend doing another safari with them if I get back to Kenya."

"In 2013 I joined my husband on a trip to Kenya with some other Australian Rotarians, to look at a site for a future children’s home. After a wonderful stay at Diani Beach, we embarked on our first ever safari with Patrick Kea, it proved to be a remarkable and rewarding experience.

We travelled in safari style vehicles so we were able to view the passing scenery and watch the animals that we had been so looking forward to seeing. We saw lions, elegant giraffes, (my favourite), zebras grazing by the roadside, families of elephants, consisting of large bulls, mothers and assorted children, ranging from teens to tiny babies(for elephants, that is!),wildebeest, cheetahs ,and hyena, and so many more!

We saw various types of monkeys including Colobus and many types of antelopes including one of my favourites, the tiny dik- dik, so small it is often hidden in the grass.  We saw ostrich and so many colourful ground birds and flocks of smaller birds.

We stayed overnight at lovely well appointed lodges with great food, drinks and caring staff. Pure luxury in the outback!

The driving  staff were always well mannered and so knowledgeable about just where to look for the various species of animals. I thoroughly recommend this company, just so good. (PS. I went back again in 2017)."

"In 2017, having enjoyed a previous safari with Patrick Kea. I returned to Kenya by myself to meet up with friends.
The safari again was magic, I had just recovered from surgery and was well looked after.

The accommodation was again superb, and we travelled out at different times of the day and evening so that we could encounter as many animal species as possible.

Once again we were not disappointed as we saw scores of elephants in their family groups, meandering across the dusty grounds, watching the various animal groups coming to drink at the waterhole with some unwritten hierarchy laws about who gets to drink first.

We saw cheetahs come to drink at a secluded waterhole, watched lions mate, saw cheetahs with their kill in the tree tops, zebras grazing by the roadside, and one morning I found a baby elephant at my front door!  Just wow!

I can’t wait to go back to Kenya and yes, go on another safari, as it is just the best feeling, and travel with the best, most knowledgeable people."

"We would like to give a huge thank you to Patrick and his team for the most amazing Safaris in Kenya.  We have been on Safari twice now in Kenya, and always found everything about the Safari very professional and rewarding with Patrick and his team.

The accommodation, vehicles, daily drives into parks and the cultural experience was above what we expected. The drivers/guides were always abliging and always trying to make sure you see everything you want to see.

We have thousands of photos and memories that we often look back at regularly and can’t wait to return again.  We would highly recommend Patrick and his team for your Safari experience in Kenya and the icing on the cake is that all the profits from your Safari go back to help Umoja Childrens Home in Kenya to become self sustainable which is a Australian Rotary project."

"I have been lucky enough to go on 3 Safaris with Patrick and his crew over the last 10 years. Not only did I get to experience the beauty and majesty of Kenya but I always felt safe and comfortable in my journey.

Patrick's dedication to his work is exemplary and his knowledge of Kenya and its wildlife superb. While all the guides bring their own personality and stories to share, Patrick will ensure your experience is all that you could wish for.

The Lodges in which you stay are all unique. One day you could be lounging in the pool watching herds of elephants grazing in the distance. The next you could be spotting animals drinking at a waterhole from your bedroom window.

Nothing will compare, however to seeing Kenya's wildlife up close and personal. From the tiniest Dik-dik to the " Big Five" you will be constantly in awe of Africa. Words fail to do it justice; the people, the landscape, the animals, you will just have to see it for yourself."

"To experience the Massai Mara is truly a life changing experience. I was lucky enough to go with the amazing Patrick as our guide.

I couldn't have asked for a more talented, kind and wise person to look after us. We were there at the end of 2019 and it had been a good wet season and was lush and green. All the animals were healthy and were breeding in great numbers.

We called it the year of the babies, what a truly incredible amazing thing to see. This is a once in a life time experience which will never be forgotten, highly recommended."

Adventuring out on my first game drive in the savannah of Amboseli National Park and seeing an African elephant with the backdrop of Mt Kilimanjaro is a standout memory nearly 8 years later.

Patrick’s love and knowledge of the safari parks and animals was thorough and fascinating while we explored Amboseli, Lake Nakuru, Lake Navaisha, and Maasai Mara National Parks.

While travelling with Surprise Tours and Safaris all transfers, lodge accommodation, meals, and park entry fees were taken care of, giving you time to simply enjoy your guided safari adventure.

Surprise Tours and Safari limit the number of guests per vehicle so you will always feel both safe and comfortable. And knowing the money from your safari goes towards keeping the Umoja children’s village sustainable is a wonderful addition to your African holiday.

"We have completed 2 safaris with the amazing Patrick as our tour driver and guide. Patrick is one of a kind to say the least.  With his eagle eyes he spots wild animals that you wonder, "How on earth did he see that while he was driving."  We were finishing off one game drive, and I mentioned to Patrick that I really hoped to see a lion.  He did his level best to find one and indeed he persisted much to my surprise.

Patrick and his drivers go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and ensure to their level best that you enjoy your safari.  He and his drivers want you to have the best experience you can possibly have.  Patrick's pride in his country and his vocation is extraordinary.  He wants you to see what he sees every time he enters the safari parks.

We have visited twice Massai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli, Tsavo East & Tsavo West National Parks.  Each safari was completely different, each unique, each amazing.  Our lodges Patrick chose for us were exceptional.  One night while in Tsavo West we were sitting after dinner having a drink on the balcony and a leopard walks right past us.  We were so surprised!

On the second safari we were incredibly fortunate to see a serval cat right next to our vehicle.  Serval Cats are extremely rare to see, and to boot we saw wild dogs which also are very rare.  Not even Patrick expected to see these animals as had never seen a serval cat in his over 15 years of doing safaris for clients.

Do yourself a favour and book a safari to any of the safari parks.  You will be guided by Patrick and his team.  One last thing, it is something else that this company donate 100% of their net profits back to the Umoja Children's Home.  You go on a magical trip, experiencing things you never expected to see (but hoped to), and you are helping children in so much need. We will be booking another safari with Patrick in 2023." Africa gets into your veins.

"I can personally guarantee and recommend Patrick and his team for safari.  I have been on a few with him now following my volunteer work with the Umoja Children's Home Project over three separate occasions.

Patrick is very kind, polite and knowledgeable about the animals,  and the best places on safari to view the many animals.

I have never been dissapointed.  Accommodation has been superb...

I recommed all those thinking of a safari to look no further than here."

Safari 2016 "Graham and I decided to join the Safari after our 2016 volunteering experience. This safari was led by Patrick, our Umoja home Manager and the best safari guide in Kenya.  Our driver's name was Johnny Walker who took his job very seriously.

While we were in Safari mode he was constantly scouting for signs of animals. He drove very safely and was always available to answer any questions. We visited Amboseli National park and were witness to many spectacular views of Mt Kilimanjaro including spectacular sunsets. The Safari lodge accomodation was well selected for our needs and gave us a variety of accommodation including tented lodges.

We enjoyed many animal sightings and amongst our favourites were the Giraffe and Elephants. The photo opportunities were endless and overall we enjoyed the company of our fellow Rotarian volunteers who joined us on our journey in the African wilderness. I would highly recommend Safari to any volunteers in the future."

The Safari tour.... WOW!!

It far exceeded my expectations.

I don't usually take many photos but soon had to borrow a spare SD card!!  I have a huge respect for Cathy & even more for Patrick.

I still have many unanswered questions.
